Nashik Police Arrest Two Individuals with 12kg of Marijuana

Nashik city police have apprehended two suspects for the possession of 12 kilograms of marijuana, commonly known as ganja. The arrest was made on Monday following a tip-off received by police officer Vishal Deore from the crime branch unit 1. The information indicated that individuals were transporting marijuana in a car on the Adgaon-Mhasrul road.

“The information was passed on to senior police inspector Vijay Dhamal. A team was immediately formed and dispatched to the spot,” stated a police officer.

During the search of the vehicle, the police discovered 12kg of marijuana concealed in a plastic bag. The driver of the car, identified as Rahul Raj Pawar, was taken into custody. The police team also seized three cellphones and the car used by the suspects, which have an estimated value of Rs 6.30 lakh.

Further investigation revealed that Pawar had purchased the marijuana from Sarjerao Gaikwad, a resident of Hirawadi in Panchavati. Subsequently, Gaikwad was also arrested.

The Mhasrul police have registered a case against the suspects under various sections of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.
