Murder Investigation Underway as Man’s Body Found in Salford

A murder investigation has been launched after the discovery of a deceased man in Salford. The victim has been identified as Tanyaradzwa Julius Matara, whose body was found near a house in Higher Broughton on Thursday, 7th December 2023.

Mr. Matara, aged 43, had been reported missing since the end of October.

The body was located on land between Great Cheetham Street West and Salford & Broughton Cricket & Football Club by officers from the Greater Manchester Police.

Following the discovery, two men were arrested at the scene, and another man was apprehended later, all on suspicion of murder.

The suspects have been released on bail as further investigation takes place.

Condolences for the Family

Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Smith, leading the investigation for GMP’s Major Incident Team, expressed her condolences to Mr. Matara’s family and requested privacy for them during this distressing time.

The police force had been actively searching for Mr. Matara since he was reported as a high-risk missing person at the end of October. Detective Smith described the discovery as a tragic ending to their efforts.

In previous updates, the police have been conducting thorough inquiries to gather information and determine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Matara’s death.
