The tragic incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on December 1, when local law enforcement responded to a distressing scene involving a white truck and a black sedan near Johnson Drive and Bell Road in Shawnee, Kansas. According to an official media release, emergency medical services promptly transported nine-year-old Nolan Davidson, a resident of Lenexa, to Children’s Mercy in critical condition. Unfortunately, Nolan succumbed to his injuries on December 7, as confirmed by a GoFundMe page set up for his grieving family.

The driver of the truck, who was later identified as Matthew Jacobo, fled the scene immediately after the collision. However, through diligent efforts, the police managed to track him down and apprehend him later that night.

Nolan and his family were en route from one basketball game to another when their lives were tragically disrupted by this horrific incident. The collision significantly impacted the rear passenger side of their vehicle, where Nolan was seated at the time of the crash, leading to his untimely demise.

Jacobo is currently in custody, held on a substantial $1 million bond. A preliminary hearing for his case has been scheduled for December 14 at 11 a.m., where further legal proceedings will unfold.
