Startling Discovery Made at Skyloft Luxury Apartments in Irvine

Resident Finds Intruder in Closet Holding Kitchen Utensils and Pizza Cutter

A resident of the prestigious Skyloft luxury apartments in Irvine, located in Southern California, returned home on December 1 after a relaxing week-long vacation to find herself confronting an unexpected and alarming situation. As she approached her closet, she was startled to discover an unknown woman crouching inside. The resident immediately contacted the Irvine Police Department to report the incident.

The Irvine Police Sergeant, Karie Davies, provided details about the incident, stating, “The resident opened her closet door and was surprised to find an unfamiliar woman inside. The intruder was holding various kitchen utensils and a pizza cutter, creating a terrifying scene for the resident.”

Intruder Captured on Door Surveillance Camera Attempting Escape

Fortunately, the suspect’s escape attempt did not go unnoticed. A door surveillance camera from a neighboring apartment captured footage of the intruder, later identified as 43-year-old Wendy Wilkinson, as she desperately tried to flee the scene. The video evidence allowed law enforcement officers to gather crucial information about the suspect.

Uncovering the Intruder’s Identity and Connection to the Victim

Further investigation revealed that Wendy Wilkinson was not a complete stranger to the Skyloft luxury apartment complex. In fact, she resided just 100 feet away from the victim. Irvine Police Sergeant Davies explained, “Officers knocked on Wilkinson’s door and discovered her hiding in her own closet. Additionally, they noticed several items that did not belong to her, including a receipt for a storage unit.”

Following this discovery, the police obtained a search warrant for both Wilkinson’s apartment and the mentioned storage unit. The search yielded a cache of stolen property belonging to the victim. Among the stolen items were purses, duffle bags, televisions, passports, and even the victim’s work identification card.

Mysterious Access and Extent of the Burglary

Despite uncovering the stolen items, the police remain uncertain about how Wilkinson gained access to the victim’s apartment. It is believed that the intruder may have had sufficient time to enter the apartment over several hours or days without being detected. Sergeant Davies expressed her concern, stating, “Wilkinson was able to systematically remove a significant number of items from the victim’s apartment, almost completely wiping her out.”

Victim Relocates Following the Disturbing Incident

Understandably shaken by the intrusion and theft, the victim has made the decision to move out of her apartment at Skyloft luxury apartments. The traumatic experience has undoubtedly left her feeling violated and unsafe in her own home.

Efforts to Reach Property Management for Comment

Eyewitness News reached out to Legacy Partners, the company responsible for managing Skyloft luxury apartments. However, as of now, there has been no response from the management company regarding the incident.

Possible Connection to Another Burglary

Wilkinson now faces a burglary charge and may be linked to another burglary in Riverside County. The Irvine Police Department is actively investigating this potential connection.
