SPRINGDALE, Ohio (WXIX) – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the unfortunate demise of two dogs. The incident occurred when the owner of a Tri-State business was unexpectedly attacked by these canines.

In response to a distressing 911 call on Wednesday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Springdale Police Department promptly dispatched officers to Tri-County Golf Ranch. The call indicated a violent assault on the 62-year-old co-owner within the premises, carried out by two large dogs.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found the vicious attack still underway. The severity of the situation compelled the first officer to employ his duty weapon in defense of the victim’s life.

The swift intervention by the officer proved to be life-saving, effectively halting the dogs’ aggression towards the victim. Regrettably, during the confrontation, a stray round struck the victim’s leg. Emergency responders promptly attended to the injured party, transporting them to University Hospital. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were deemed serious but non-life-threatening.

Following a thorough investigation, it was revealed that the dogs responsible for the attack were owned by the victim’s business partner.

The officer involved in the incident has been identified as Michael DiStefano, an esteemed 11-year veteran of the Springdale Police Department.
