Two Men Indicted for Dorchester Shooting that Left Five Injured

Two individuals have been formally charged for their alleged involvement in a shocking shooting incident that took place in Dorchester last summer, resulting in injuries to five people, including two children.

A grand jury in Suffolk county has indicted Gianni Williams-Johnson, a 24-year-old resident of Dorchester, and Micah Ennis, a 24-year-old resident of South Boston, on multiple charges. The charges include five counts of armed assault with intent to murder, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and unlawful possession of firearms. Williams-Johnson is also facing an additional charge of unlawful possession of a machine gun.

The grave charges stem from an incident that occurred on September 17, at an apartment complex located on the first block of Ames Street in Dorchester. According to previous reports by the Herald, law enforcement authorities responded to the scene shortly before 8:40 p.m. and discovered three adults and two juveniles who had sustained gunshot wounds in a courtyard area at the rear of the building.

Williams-Johnson was taken into custody on October 2 and has since been held at Nashua Street Jail. Ennis, who was identified as the second suspect at the time of Williams-Johnson’s arrest, remains at large. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden has issued a plea for Ennis to surrender himself to authorities.

“This was an appalling and reckless barrage of bullets unleashed upon a courtyard where innocent people were gathered, including children who were simply playing. It is truly miraculous that no lives were lost. However, a brother and sister who were joyfully enjoying their time in the courtyard were grievously wounded, causing immense and ongoing anguish for their family and the community,” Hayden expressed. “I urge Mr. Ennis to come forward and face the consequences of this terrible assault on our residents and our neighborhoods.”

Teen Fatally Stabbed in Roslindale

Boston Police received a distress call reporting a stabbing incident in the vicinity of 63 Bradeen Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Monday. According to a statement from the department, responding officers discovered an individual, approximately 18 years old, suffering from a life-threatening stab wound in an alley in the area.

The victim was immediately rushed to a local hospital by Boston EMS, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, as stated in the police release.

As of the latest statistics from the Boston Regional Intelligence Center, the city has witnessed 34 homicides thus far, which is three fewer than the corresponding period last year and 12 below the five-year average of 46 during the same timeframe.

Arrest Made in 2 ½-Year-Old Homicide Case

Zykaris Hamilton, a 19-year-old from Mattapan, was apprehended by Boston Police on Monday and charged with the murder of Fermin Baez, a 32-year-old resident of Dorchester, which took place in the summer of 2021.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the police, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1500-block of Tremont Street shortly before 9 p.m. on June 7, 2021. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound, later identified as Baez. Tragically, Baez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital later that night.

On Monday, law enforcement located Hamilton in the 400-block of Canterbury Street and took him into custody based on a warrant for Baez’s murder issued by Suffolk Superior Court. The police statement did not provide specific details regarding the connection between Hamilton and the shooting.

Unusual Discovery in East Bridgewater

Police in East Bridgewater received a peculiar 911 call on Sunday morning from a woman reporting an unconscious and partially clothed individual in her side yard on Belmont Street, according to a statement from the Plymouth District Attorney’s office.

Tragically, upon the arrival of local police and fire personnel at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of a woman lying face down in the grass. The deceased individual has been identified as Nicole Swan, a 42-year-old from Brockton.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of Swan’s death, while State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s office will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her case.
