In a shocking incident believed to be a fallout of a road rage altercation, a brutal murder took place late on Tuesday night in Pune district, Maharashtra. Abhishek Bhosale, a resident of Shewalwadi in Manjari, owned a furniture shop named ‘The Chair Home’ and a warehouse in the Fursungi area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) R Raja stated, “We have apprehended two individuals, including the primary accused, and are currently searching for the others involved.”

The incident unfolded when Bhosale was driving his car on the Fursungi Chandwadi Road on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, his vehicle brushed against a man identified as Vilas Sakat, leading to a heated argument between the two parties.

An officer from Hadapsar police station revealed, “During the scuffle, Sakat allegedly shattered the car’s window glass. Later in the evening, around 9.30 pm, Bhosale visited Sakat’s residence to seek compensation for the damage caused. However, amidst a verbal altercation between them, a group of people, consisting of Sakat’s family members and friends, encircled Bhosale. They mercilessly attacked him with sharp weapons and also used a rock to inflict fatal injuries, resulting in his tragic demise.”

Bhosale’s nephew, Atharva Sabale (18), who attempted to intervene and protect his uncle, was also brutally assaulted and struck with a rock. The police have registered a case at Hadapsar police station based on Sabale’s complaint.

Deputy Commissioner Raja shared, “Preliminary investigations indicate that there was no prior animosity between the victim and the accused. The fatal attack appears to be a consequence of the argument that originated from the contact between Bhosale’s car and Sakat’s, suggesting this is a case of road rage.”

The police have charged 10 individuals, including a woman, with murder, physical assault, criminal intimidation, and other related offenses. Among the suspects, Vilas Sakat, Kailas Sakat, and Sachin Sakat have been identified.
