In a shocking incident, an elderly man was discovered lifeless with his throat brutally slit in the Gandhi Nagar area of Berhampur on Monday evening. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Ranka Sethi from Ambika Nagar, was found lying in a pool of blood on the roadside in Gandhi Nagar, approximately one-and-a-half kilometers away from his residence within the Town police limits.

Upon receiving the information, the police swiftly arrived at the scene along with a scientific team and a sniffer dog squad to initiate a thorough investigation. Initial observations indicate that the elderly man was subjected to a vicious attack using a sharp weapon, resulting in a deep laceration on his neck.

Sethi’s family members claim that he had no known adversaries, leaving the police to investigate the case from multiple angles. “The body has been sent for postmortem examination. In order to apprehend the culprits, we have formed a special team dedicated to this case. The CCTV camera footage from the surrounding area is currently under scrutiny. We have gathered some promising leads and remain hopeful of solving the case at the earliest,” stated Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M.

As the investigation continues, the police are exploring all possible motives and suspects. The authorities are determined to bring justice to the deceased and provide closure to his grieving family.
