Husband Arrested for Poisoning Wife in Chikkamagaluru

Bengaluru, [Date] – Two days after the shocking death of a married woman in Devavrunda village of Chikkamagaluru district, the police have made a breakthrough in the case. The authorities have arrested the victim’s husband after he confessed to poisoning his wife with cyanide-laced food.

The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Shweta, who was married to Darshan for seven years. The couple had a 4-year-old son, and Darshan owned a diagnostic centre in Bengaluru.

According to Shweta’s family, the motive behind the murder was Darshan’s alleged extramarital affair with a colleague.

Attempt to Conceal the Crime

On [Date], at around 6 am, Darshan’s brother informed Shweta’s family that she had passed away due to a heart attack. However, suspicions arose when Darshan and his family hastily arranged for her cremation before the arrival of her relatives.

Shweta’s brother, Chennoji Rao, raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death. Consequently, the family approached the police, leading to the body being transferred to Chikkamagaluru district hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination. The police registered a case under IPC section 302 (Murder) and subsequently arrested Darshan.

The Truth Unveiled

During the post-mortem, chemical substances were discovered in Shweta’s body. Forensic experts collected samples from the crime scene, and the police are awaiting the results of their analysis.

Chikkamagaluru SP Dr Vikram Amathe revealed that the accused, Darshan, has already confessed to the crime. “Shweta and Darshan were married seven years ago. On Monday, Shweta was found dead. After Shweta’s brother approached the police with suspicions of murder, the body was sent for post-mortem. Through preliminary investigations, it was determined that Darshan administered a chemical substance to his wife, causing her death. We are awaiting confirmation from the FSL report, but it appears to be a cyanide-like chemical,” explained the SP.

The police also stated their intention to question the woman with whom Darshan had an extramarital affair. Shweta’s family released an audio clip in which she can be heard pleading with the woman not to continue meeting her husband.
