Casino Winner Assaulted and Robbed of Over £38,000 in Cash Outside His Mahtomedi Home

A shocking incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mahtomedi, as a casino winner fell victim to a violent assault and robbery outside his residence. According to court documents, the 67-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, had returned home from an eventful night at the renowned Treasure Island Resort & Casino with a substantial sum of approximately £38,100 in cash.

A Terrifying Ordeal Unfolds

At around 2:15 a.m., as the man arrived at his house located in the 700 block of Griffin Court, a distressing turn of events unfolded. A red pickup truck pulled up near his residence, and to his dismay, two black male occupants emerged from the vehicle. Without warning, they physically assaulted the man and forcibly took the large sum of cash he had just acquired from the casino.

According to a criminal complaint lodged at the Washington County District Court, during the brutal assault, two female relatives of the man emerged from his house. Shockingly, the assailants then resorted to threatening the women’s lives, with one of the perpetrators brandishing a firearm and menacingly uttering, “You (expletive) better go inside or we will kill you.”

After robbing the man and terrorizing his family, the perpetrators swiftly fled the scene, leaving the traumatized victims in their wake. Undeterred, the brave individual who had been robbed courageously pursued the assailants in his own vehicle.

Justice Prevails

Sometime later, law enforcement was successful in stopping the red pickup truck near the intersection of Minnesota 36 and White Bear Avenue in Maplewood. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Deangelo Romaine Jacox, a 32-year-old resident of Coon Rapids. The two other men involved in the heinous crime were identified as Shawn Eric Lewis, 35, from Bloomington, and Tristin Tyler Jacox Mann, 32, from Golden Valley.

All three individuals have been charged with multiple serious offenses, including first-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery, second-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery, and aiding and abetting threats of violence-reckless disregard risk.

Additionally, Jacox, who was the driver of the red pickup truck, faces an additional felony charge of fleeing a police officer, as stated in the complaint filed against him.

Legal Proceedings and Bond Set

Lewis and Jacox Mann made their appearance in the Washington County District Court on Tuesday morning. Lewis’s bond was set at a substantial amount of £250,000 without any conditions, while Jacox Mann’s bond was set at £150,000 without conditions.

However, Jacox was not present in court on Tuesday. Authorities revealed that the criminal complaint had not been signed by a judge before the hold expired at 3:13 a.m. Consequently, Jacox was released from custody. Nevertheless, law enforcement successfully arrested Jacox on a warrant at his Coon Rapids residence on Tuesday night. He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday morning.
