The Kolkata Police Arrest Three Individuals in Connection with Abduction Case
The Kolkata police have successfully apprehended three suspects from Hyderabad for their alleged involvement in the abduction of a man accused of raping his estranged girlfriend. The arrest of Vikram Das (37), Ayan Das (32), and Sushanta Mandal (34) took place while they were attempting to flee to Mumbai. Prior to their capture, the accused individuals had travelled to Odisha and Visakhapatnam, ultimately reaching Hyderabad.

A senior police official stated, “They are implicated in the abduction of a man accused of rape and his driver. They abducted the man and drove around in his car.” The police further revealed that Vikram, one of the prime accused, was also wanted in a fraud case registered in Mumbai. He allegedly abducted the man in Kolkata with the intention of demanding ransom to repay the fraudulently obtained money.
The incident originated on December 4 when a woman in Kolkata accused her estranged boyfriend of raping her in a moving car after drugging her. During the investigation, the police discovered that the accused man had gone missing, raising suspicions of his escape. However, the police managed to locate him in an apartment, where he was found with his hands and legs bound. As CCTV footage and other circumstantial evidence emerged, the police began to suspect that the rape complaint may have been false. In the midst of these developments, the man filed a counter-complaint, alleging that the woman had abducted him.
During the scrutiny of CCTV footage, authorities at Netaji Nagar police station identified a young individual named Souvik Das as the driver of the victim’s car. Subsequently, Souvik was arrested. Further investigations led the police to Vikram, who was discovered to be hiding in Hyderabad. A team from Netaji Nagar police station was dispatched to Hyderabad, successfully apprehending Vikram along with two of his associates.
