An 18-Year-Old Passenger Dies in Tragic Single-Vehicle Accident in Marengo County

An 18-year-old passenger lost their life in a devastating car wreck that occurred in Marengo County on Sunday. The accident, involving a single vehicle, also left the car’s 15-year-old driver and a 9-year-old passenger injured, according to authorities who shared the information on Tuesday.

The tragic incident took place when a Chrysler 200, carrying the unnamed 18-year-old from Sweet Water, veered off Alabama 10 near the 47-mile marker. The vehicle collided with a tree and subsequently caught fire, as reported by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Cpl. Reginal King.

The young passenger, sadly, succumbed to their injuries at the accident site, located approximately a mile east of Dixon Mills in Marengo County.

The 15-year-old driver of the Chrysler, hailing from Thomasville, and a 9-year-old passenger also suffered injuries and were promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, stated Cpl. King.

As state troopers continue their investigation into the tragic accident, further details remain undisclosed at this time.
