Pune Police Arrest 47-Year-Old Burglar in Wakad

Pune: In a major breakthrough, the Wakad police have arrested a 47-year-old burglar from Nalasopara in Palghar district. The suspect, identified as Abdul Shaikh, was apprehended for his involvement in a burglary that took place in Wakad on November 17. The stolen items, including gold and diamond valuables worth Rs 1.77 lakh, have been recovered.

The Wakad police, led by Senior Inspector Ganesh Jawadwad, successfully tracked down Shaikh with the help of technical investigation. Assistant Inspector Santosh Patil from the Wakad police station stated, “With the assistance of our technical team, we were able to ascertain Shaikh’s identity and take him into custody on Thursday.”

During the interrogation, it was revealed that Shaikh has a long criminal history with 24 cases registered against him with the Mumbai and Palghar police. Patil further added, “Shaikh had a distinctive modus operandi where he targeted highrise buildings and used pipelines to gain access. As his activities were known to the Mumbai and Palghar police, he shifted his focus towards Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune.”

The police have also arrested Shaikh’s accomplice, Dharmesh Diwakar, aged 28, from Nalasopara. Gold ornaments worth Rs 1.22 lakh were also recovered from Shaikh.

This recent arrest has brought relief to the residents of Wakad and surrounding areas who have been living in fear due to the increasing incidents of burglaries. The Wakad police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety of the community.
