Stabbing Incident at Department of Corrections Central Detention Facility Under Investigation

WASHINGTON — An investigation has been launched into a stabbing incident that occurred at the Department of Corrections (DOC) Central Detention Facility in Washington, D.C. on Sunday morning. Multiple inmates were injured in the incident, which took place in the 1900 block of D Street, SE, the location of the DC Department of Corrections.

The Metropolitan Police Department received a call about the stabbing at 10:20 a.m. and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered that at least two inmates had been stabbed. It is unclear at this point if there were any additional individuals involved in the altercation.

The injured inmates were found conscious and breathing and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. The current status of their conditions remains unknown as the investigation continues.

The investigation into this stabbing incident at the D.C. Jail is currently active and ongoing. Authorities are working diligently to gather more information and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This is not the first violent incident to occur at the D.C. Jail. In a separate incident that took place in August, a man was arrested for fatally stabbing another man inside the facility. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Darrow Johnson from Clinton, Maryland. A D.C. resident was subsequently apprehended and charged with assault with intent to kill using a knife in connection with that incident.

The safety and security of inmates and staff within correctional facilities are of paramount importance. Authorities will continue to investigate and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
