10th December – Authorities have arrested and charged a 55-year-old woman from Montana after she deliberately drove her vehicle into a religious group over the weekend, resulting in injuries to at least one person. The FBI is currently examining the details of the case.

The suspect, identified as Genevienne Rancuret, was taken into custody on Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m. during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Central Avenue.

Genevienne Rancuret is currently being held at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility. She is facing eight counts of felony assault with a weapon, along with charges of felony criminal mischief loss exceeding $1,500, misdemeanor revocation of suspended or deferred sentence, and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a first offense. The arrest occurred approximately two hours after the Billings Police Department received multiple reports around 12:33 p.m. regarding a vehicle driving through a religious group gathered at the intersection of 6th Avenue North and North 27th Street.

Lieutenant Matt Lennick of the Billings Police Department stated in a statement that the suspect repeatedly targeted the group, causing damage to their equipment and injuring a 45-year-old male participant.

Rancuret allegedly fled the scene, leading to a brief manhunt before being apprehended during a subsequent traffic stop.

According to MTN News, Lieutenant Lennick identified the religious group as Israelis for Christ. The FBI has requested to review the case, which is currently being handled by the Yellow Stone County Attorney’s Office.

This incident took place amidst a surge in anti-Semitic acts across the United States since the start of Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza on October 7th.

The Jewish Anti-defamation League reported that the number of anti-Semitic incidents between October 7th and 23rd increased by nearly 400% compared to the same period last year.
