Following a tense six-hour standoff at a nearby apartment, police apprehended a 44-year-old suspect in connection with the crime. However, the Minneapolis police have not released the suspect’s name at this time.

Prior to his work as a grocery store clerk, Skafte had trained in ballet at the prestigious Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica, California. He danced with the Kansas City Ballet from 1984 to 1994 before relocating to Minneapolis, where he became a member of the esteemed Ballet of the Dolls.

Skafte’s friend, Gladys Torres, expressed deep sadness, stating, “We are broken. Our hearts are shattered,” in an interview with the Star Tribune.

Valerie Torres, a close friend and fellow ballet dancer, took to Facebook to pay tribute to Skafte, describing him as “one of the sweetest souls to ever exist.” She further expressed the devastation felt by the entire Ballet of the Dolls family and her disbelief at the cruel nightmare that unfolded.
