Two Brave Men Catch Snatchers in North Delhi

New Delhi: In two separate incidents, two courageous men in north Delhi managed to catch snatchers, showcasing immense bravery. These incidents highlight the determination of individuals to stand up against crime and protect their fellow citizens.

The First Incident

The first incident occurred on December 8 in Burari, where two men snatched the mobile phone of a Delhi University student. The victim, identified as Harish (19), took immediate action and gave chase to the snatchers. With great determination, Harish managed to catch one of the snatchers and retrieve his phone.

Harish was returning home from his part-time job when the incident took place. He was talking on the phone when two men on a scooter targeted him near the main market in Sant Nagar around 8:30pm. Showing incredible bravery, Harish chased the snatchers on foot and grabbed hold of the pillion rider’s jacket, pinning him down. Despite threats from the snatcher, Harish held on tight and called for help. Passers-by gathered at the scene and alerted the police.

The arrested suspect was identified as Deepak Sahu. Further investigations led to the apprehension of another suspect, Anish. Both individuals are involved in multiple crimes and frequently change their names to avoid detection. The police also recovered two stolen phones.

The Second Incident

Prior to the aforementioned incident, another brave individual intervened when a man snatched a phone from a woman at knifepoint in Wazirabad. A passer-by, identified as Deepanshu, overpowered the snatcher and handed him over to the police. However, Deepanshu sustained minor knife injuries during the scuffle.

Upon receiving information about the attack, the local police station dispatched a team to the scene. They found two women and Deepanshu restraining the snatcher, identified as Sunny (23) from Ghaziabad. According to the complainant, she and her 19-year-old friend were walking when two men on a bike confronted them. One of the men approached her with a knife and snatched her phone. Her screams for help prompted Deepanshu to intervene, but he was stabbed in the hand. The two women joined Deepanshu in overpowering the snatcher.

The arrested suspect, Sunny, confessed to committing the snatching with his accomplice, Vivek Kumar, who managed to flee the scene on the vehicle used in the offence. The police are making efforts to apprehend him.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Manoj Meena, felicitated the brave individuals who displayed exceptional courage in these incidents. Their actions serve as an inspiration for others to stand up against crime and contribute to a safer society.
