Suspect Arrested in Beverly Hills Hate Crime Assault
In response to a reported assault with a deadly weapon, authorities in Beverly Hills have made an arrest in what investigators believe was a hate crime. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at approximately 9:03 a.m., in the vicinity of North Rexford Drive and North Santa Monica Blvd.

According to the police, an elderly individual was brutally attacked and sustained a severe head injury after being struck with a belt. The victim, who was with their spouse at the time, received immediate medical attention from the Beverly Hills Fire Department.
Fortunately, the victim’s injuries did not require further medical intervention. However, the incident has left the community shocked and concerned about the rise in hate crimes.
During the assault, the suspect, identified as Jarris Jay Silagi, a 44-year-old male from Los Angeles, allegedly made anti-Semitic remarks towards the victim. Notably, there was no prior connection between the suspect and the victim, adding to the senselessness of the crime.
Upon police arrival at the scene, the suspect had already fled. However, with the help of Senior Forensic Specialists, law enforcement swiftly identified and apprehended an individual matching the suspect’s description.

Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook praised the officers for their prompt response, stating, “Our officers acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect, and he is now in custody. We will not tolerate such despicable acts of hate within our community.”
Jarris Jay Silagi is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on $100,000.00 bail. His court hearing is scheduled for December 12, 2023, at the Los Angeles Airport Court.
