Man Arrested in Coimbatore for Illegally Manufacturing Liquor

COIMBATORE: In a major operation, the Enforcement Bureau (formerly known as the Prohibition Enforcement Wing) police apprehended a 29-year-old man in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu on Monday for engaging in the production of illicit liquor. The suspect, identified as S Arun, 29, hailing from Pottanchira near Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, was found guilty of manufacturing liquor by using rectified spirit mixed with coloring and flavor agents.

Acting on a tip-off received on Monday morning, the Enforcement Bureau police conducted a raid at a residence in Senthoorapuram near Karamadai. During the raid, the police discovered 1,600 illicit liquor bottles and 175 liters of rectified spirit in the house.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Arun, along with another individual named S Anilkumar, 50, from Thiruvananthapuram, had rented the house eight months ago solely for the purpose of manufacturing alcohol illegally. It is worth mentioning that Anil Kumar was recently arrested by the Ambalapuzha police in Kerala for similar offenses.

The seizure of such a large quantity of illicit liquor and the arrest of the accused individuals have dealt a significant blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network in the region. Further investigations into the matter are currently underway.
