A 22-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario is now facing charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a traffic stop in downtown Toronto. The incident took place last week and involved the suspect dragging a police officer a short distance.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on December 8 near the intersection of Harbour and York streets, according to police reports.

Prior to the incident, an officer had pulled over the suspect’s vehicle after observing him using his cell phone while driving. When the officer asked the suspect to provide identification, he reportedly refused and proceeded to drive away.

As the suspect fled, the officer was dragged a short distance before falling onto the roadway. The injured officer was quickly transported to the hospital with minor injuries and later released.

After fleeing the scene, the suspect was last seen heading eastbound on Harbour Street. In an effort to apprehend the suspect, the police released images of both the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, urging the public to come forward with any information.

On Monday, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release stating that the suspect, Christian Marryshow Dixon, had turned himself in to investigators earlier that day. Dixon, 22, now faces multiple charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while under suspension, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
