Two Arrested for Kidnapping and Murder of 16-Year-Old Boy in Bhiwandi

The Narpoli Police in Bhiwandi have made two arrests in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 16-year-old boy, following an old rivalry. According to the police, five other individuals involved in the crime are still at large.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Ayush Virendra Jha, 19, and Manoj Narayan Tope, 19. Both reside in Brahamanad Nagar, Kamatghar area of Bhiwandi.

The incident occurred on November 25 in Kalher village, Bhiwandi. The victim was kidnapped, assaulted, and attacked with a sharp weapon, resulting in severe injuries to his abdomen and neck.

Bharat Kamat, Senior Police Inspector at Narpoli Police Station, stated, “We received information from a local informant regarding the involvement of Tope and Jha in a murder case. We apprehended them in their locality. During interrogation, both confessed that they had invited the victim to a party in the Retibunder area of Kalher. An argument ensued due to an old rivalry, leading to a scuffle. The accused, along with five others, attacked the victim using sharp weapons. Subsequently, they buried him in a nearby location and disposed of the evidence.”

Under the instruction of DCP Navnath Dhavale, Bharat Kamat formed two teams to investigate the case. One team focused on gathering information from local informers, while the other team utilized technical intelligence. The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the remaining suspects.

According to sources, there are two local gangs in the area, namely Abhay Deshmukh and Aniket Kharat. The victim belonged to Abhay Deshmukh’s gang. Jha, Tope, and the other five suspects lured him to a party, with the intention of using weapons to cause harm.

The mother of the deceased lodged a complaint, invoking sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 302 (Punishment for murder), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of the offense or giving false information to screen offender), and 34 (Common Intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

In her statement, she mentioned that her son received a call and left home, but did not return the next day. The family searched for him in the locality but could not locate him. Eventually, they approached the police station and filed a missing person report.

The investigation is ongoing as the police continue their efforts to bring all the culprits to justice.
