Tragic Accident Claims the Life of a 20-Year-Old Man in Winchester

According to authorities, the fatal crash occurred when the young man attempted an illegal U-turn, leading to a collision with an SUV. The SUV’s driver and passenger sustained moderate injuries and were subsequently transported to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Winchester Road, just north of Pourroy Road, as stated in a news release by CHP officials. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that a Honda Accord, driven by the 20-year-old resident of Winchester, was traveling northbound and made an illegal U-turn over two sets of painted solid double yellow lines. At the same time, a Nissan Rogue SUV was heading southbound. The two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in significant damage.

Tragically, the driver of the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which contributed to the severity of his injuries. Despite being rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center for emergency medical care, he succumbed to his injuries and tragically lost his life. The identity of the Honda driver has not been disclosed pending notification of his family members.

The driver of the SUV has been identified as a 56-year-old man from Oceanside, while his passenger was a 17-year-old boy, according to officials.
