The investigation into this gruesome incident began on Tuesday, August 23, when the San Bernardino Police Homicide detectives received a tip-off regarding possible human remains at a residence in the City of San Bernardino.

After carefully verifying the information received, investigators obtained a search warrant to further explore the matter. The warrant allowed them to search a property located in the 1400 Block of E. Davidson Street, with the intention of uncovering any potential human remains.

During the execution of the search warrant, investigators were startled to come across a makeshift tomb on the premises. Intrigued by their discovery, they proceeded to investigate further and were horrified to find human remains concealed inside the tomb.

Further investigation revealed that the resident of the property, Trista Spicer, had been living with the deceased individual, Eric Mercado. This crucial information was unearthed by the diligent efforts of the homicide investigators.
