The deceased officer, identified as Murad Jamot, was serving as the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Counter Terrorism Department in the city. SHO Abdullah Pindrani confirmed the incident, stating that the explosives were planted in Jamot’s vehicle, leading to the fatal blast. Alongside the officer, a passerby was also injured in the incident. Both the injured individual and the deceased officer were promptly transferred to District Headquarter Hospital Khuzdar for medical assistance.

Authorities have commenced an investigation into the incident to determine the culprits behind this act of terrorism. The rise in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, has been a matter of great concern for Pakistan. This escalation in violence can be attributed to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November last year.

Recently, in the Sohbatpur district, a bomb blast resulted in the death of one individual and left two police personnel injured. These incidents highlight the growing security challenges faced by the country.

According to data released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), anti-state violence in the country has witnessed a sharp 34% increase in the past month. The province most affected by this surge is KP, with 51 documented attacks causing 54 fatalities and 81 injuries. Balochistan, on the other hand, recorded nine attacks, resulting in 18 fatalities, including 15 security forces personnel and three civilians.
