A tragic incident unfolded at a resort in Kaggodlu village in Karnataka’s Kodagu district on Saturday morning, as a family of three was discovered dead. According to reports from news agency ANI, a man and his wife allegedly took their own lives after killing their 3-year-old child. The Karnataka Police stated that the deceased family hailed from Kollam, Kerala, and the resort staff alerted the authorities.

The victims have been identified as 43-year-old Vinod Babusenan, his 38-year-old wife GB Abraham, and their daughter Jane Maria Jacob. The police revealed that a suicide note was found, indicating that the couple resorted to such a drastic step due to a severe financial crisis. It was also revealed that the couple had been running a business near Kollam.

The family had arrived at the resort in an SUV on Friday evening and later went out for a walk within the resort premises. According to the resort’s manager, Anand, the family seemed quite hyped up upon their arrival. Vinod had informed the resort staff that they would check out at 10 am the following day. When they failed to do so, the staff grew concerned and went to check on them.

An employee knocked on their door at the designated checkout time, but there was no response. After waiting for thirty minutes, they attempted to knock again. To their horror, a police officer who looked through the window discovered the couple hanging.

This incident brings to mind a similar tragedy that occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli just a few days ago. In that case, a doctor working at a railway hospital allegedly ended his own life after killing his wife and two children. The incident came to light on December 5 when the doctor’s colleagues informed the police after receiving no response from the family.

As investigations continue into the devastating incident at the resort in Karnataka, authorities will delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the family’s financial crisis and the events leading up to their tragic decision.
