KARACHI: In a display of courage and self-defense, a suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen in the Federal B. Area on Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred when the owner of a car showroom was on his way to his office. Armed muggers, riding on a motorcycle, intercepted him in Block-16. Threatening him at gunpoint, the criminals attempted to rob him. However, the citizen, determined not to be a victim, put up a brave fight, leading to gunfire exchange between both parties.

Despite the robbers’ initial shot missing its target, the citizen quickly retrieved his licensed pistol and retaliated, firing at the assailants.

Yusuf Plaza Station House Officer, Rao Shahid, reported that one of the bullets struck one of the muggers, resulting in his immediate death. However, the other robber managed to escape on foot, leaving behind their motorcycle as evidence.

The deceased suspect’s body was subsequently transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Unfortunately, his identity remains unknown as of late night, but he was estimated to be in his early thirties.

In a separate incident, another suspected robber met a similar fate during an alleged encounter in Korangi.

Korangi Senior Superintendent of Police, Hasan Sardar, revealed that two robbers were in the process of looting an innocent citizen in the 100 Quarters area when a police patrol arrived at the scene and confronted them. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was fatally shot, while his partner successfully fled the scene. The deceased suspect’s body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for further legal procedures.

Authorities identified the deceased as Arif Khan, who had a criminal record with nine prior cases.

This incident highlights the potential dangers citizens face while going about their daily lives and the importance of self-defense. The brave actions of these citizens not only protected their own lives but also served as a deterrent to criminals.
