Accident – death – Obituary News : Police Arrest Suspect in Racially Motivated Assault on Elderly Man in Beverly Hills

Police in Beverly Hills have apprehended a suspect in connection with the assault of an elderly man that is believed to have been racially motivated. The incident occurred at the intersection of North Rexford Drive and North Santa Monica Boulevard on Saturday morning. Officers from the Beverly Hills Police Department responded to calls of an assault with a deadly weapon at around 9 a.m.

According to the authorities, the victim, an elderly man, sustained a laceration on his head after being struck with a belt. During the commission of the crime, the suspect allegedly made anti-Semitic statements to the victim. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were not severe, and he did not require further medical attention.

The victim, who was accompanied by his wife at the time of the assault, was on his way to the synagogue when the attack took place. The son of the victim posted on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a picture of a bloody shirt that allegedly belonged to his father. This chilling incident has sent shockwaves through the community.

Law enforcement officials quickly apprehended the suspect as he tried to flee the scene. The suspect has been identified as Jarris Jay Silagi, a 44-year-old resident of Los Angeles. Silagi faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, elder abuse, and a hate crime.

Silagi is currently held in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail on a bail amount of $100,000. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday. Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook expressed his disgust at this act of hate and emphasized that it would not be tolerated.
