In a shocking incident that has left the residents of Mudiyakalan village in Taalgaon police station area, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh in a state of disbelief, a 55-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his two-year-old grandson and daughter-in-law. The suspect, identified as Kamalkant, is reported to be mentally-challenged.

According to a report by The Times Of India, the police stated that Kamalkant attacked his grandson, Ayush, with a sickle due to his constant crying, which annoyed him. When Ayush’s mother, Shikha, tried to intervene to protect her son, she was brutally attacked as well. Tragically, Ayush lost his life on the spot, while Shikha sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them at the hospital.

Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the incident and managed to apprehend Kamalkant at the crime scene itself. The sickle used in the heinous crime was also seized by the police as evidence. The wife of the accused, who was not present at the time of the incident, was horrified upon her return to discover the bloodbath that had taken place in their home.

Providing further insight into the family dynamics, Kamalkant’s wife revealed that their son was employed in Punjab and only the four of them resided in the house. The motive behind Kamalkant’s actions remains unclear, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to this gruesome incident.

In a separate incident that highlights the rising trend of domestic violence, a 35-year-old man from Nayagarh district in Odisha allegedly killed his wife on Saturday. The accused, Arjun Bagha, walked into the Banigochha police station, shocking the officers present, as he was carrying his wife’s severed head.

Authorities stated that Bagha, a resident of Bidapaju village, confessed to murdering his wife, Dharitri, suspecting her involvement in an extra-marital affair. He reportedly used a sharp weapon to kill her before decapitating her. The police have detained Bagha while they continue their investigation into the incident.
