Vermont State Police Respond to Late-Night Incident on VT RT 14

COVENTRY — In the late hours of Thursday night, a one-vehicle crash on VT RT 14 resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Naugatuck, Connecticut, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Vermont State Police swiftly responded to the scene at approximately 8:25 p.m., where they discovered a 2012 GMC Sierra lodged in a ditch, its front end and passenger side panels damaged from the impact.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as Michael Patton, emerged from the crash unharmed, fortunately escaping any injuries.

According to authorities, Patton had been traveling south on VT RT 14 when he veered off the road to the right, eventually finding himself stuck in the ditch.

Troopers, upon assessing Patton’s condition, noticed several signs indicating impairment.

Prompted by their observations, an extensive investigation was conducted, ultimately leading to Patton’s arrest for suspected driving under the influence.

Following his apprehension, Patton was transported to the Derby Barracks for processing, where he cooperated with law enforcement officials.

After the necessary protocols were completed, Patton was released with a citation to appear in court at a later date, allowing him an opportunity to present his case before a judge.
