In a joint operation, the Delhi Crime Branch and Chandigarh police have successfully detained two prime accused in the murder case of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, along with one associate. The arrests were made during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in Chandigarh.

The two shooters identified as Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji were apprehended, along with a third person named Uddham, whose involvement is currently under verification. All three accused will be brought to Delhi to face legal proceedings.

Authorities were able to trace the location of the accused by tracking their mobile phones, leading to their eventual arrest in Chandigarh. Following the murder, the accused concealed their weapons and fled from Rajasthan to Hisar in Haryana. Subsequently, they traveled to Manali in Himachal Pradesh before returning to Chandigarh, where the arrest was made.

The brutal killing of Gogamedi occurred on November 5 when unidentified assailants entered his residence in Jaipur, Rajasthan and shot him. Soon after the incident, gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder through a social media post.

Police investigations have revealed that while on the run, the shooters maintained contact with Godara’s close aides, Virendra Chahan and Danaram, who allegedly instructed them to carry out the assassination.

Earlier today, the Jaipur Police announced the arrest of another individual, identified as Ramveer Jat, believed to be one of the conspirators in the Gogamedi murder. According to the police, Jat facilitated Fauji’s preparations in Jaipur ahead of the brutal killing.

The murder, which was captured on CCTV, depicted two individuals firing multiple shots at Gogamedi, while a third person stood at the door. The footage showed Gogamedi collapsing from the gunshot wounds and immediate medical attention failed to revive him.

The incident sparked widespread protests in the state, with Gogamedi’s supporters taking to the streets. As a result, a bandh was observed on November 26. To investigate the murder amidst a regime change in the state following the Assembly election, the Rajasthan Police formed a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Additional Director General (Crime) Dinesh MN.
