KENT COUNTY, MI – In a devastating car crash that occurred earlier this week in Kent County, two sisters have tragically lost their lives. The victims have been identified as Anna (Garza) Fegel, 42, and Jessica Garza, 39, according to Kent County Sgt. Eric Brunner. The sisters were the driver and front seat passenger, respectively, and their lives were cut short in the fatal accident that took place on Wednesday, December 6, in Lowell Township.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Anna Fegel’s children, aged 4 and 11, who were also present in the vehicle at the time of the accident and seated in the back, sustained serious injuries. However, they are currently in stable condition and are on the road to recovery. Furthermore, a 36-year-old passenger from the same car was airlifted to the hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a white Chevrolet Equinox, heading southbound on Alden Nash Avenue, unexpectedly veered across the centerline, ultimately colliding head-on with an oncoming black Buick Encore. The reasons behind this lane deviation remain unknown at this time.

Regrettably, both Anna Fegel and Jessica Garza, who were traveling in the Chevrolet, were pronounced dead at the accident scene. The authorities later revealed that their failure to wear seatbelts may have contributed to the severity of their injuries and subsequent fatalities.

The driver of the Buick Encore, a 20-year-old woman from Greenville, was also transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Anna Fegel hailed from Belding, while Jessica Garza was a resident of Lowell. In an outpouring of support for the grieving families, a dedicated GoFundMe donation page has been set up to assist them during this difficult time. The two sisters were described as “pillars of love, joy, and kindness in life.” As of early Saturday afternoon, the fundraising campaign has already raised over $7,500.
