According to the police, Bagha, a resident of Bidapaju village, confessed to killing his 30-year-old wife, Dharitri. He claimed that he suspected her of being involved in an extra-marital relationship, which led him to commit the horrendous act.

The police stated that Bagha used a sharp weapon to kill Dharitri before chopping off her head. The accused has been taken into custody, and the investigation into the incident has commenced.

Laxman Dandasena, the inspector-in-charge of the Banigochha police station, confirmed that the headless torso of the victim has also been recovered. The authorities are now working to gather more evidence and establish the motive behind the gruesome murder.

Cases of domestic violence and crimes of passion have been on the rise in recent times. Earlier this year, a man in Mumbai allegedly strangled his wife, went to work, and then informed the police about the crime. The police revealed that the man had doubted his wife’s character, leading to the tragic incident.

The incident in Nayagarh district is another grim reminder of the prevalence of gender-based violence in society. It highlights the urgent need for awareness, education, and stricter laws to protect women from such heinous crimes.
