Accident – Death – Obituary News : Leak of School Shooting Suspect’s Writings Remains Unsolved, Police Admit

A month has passed since the emergence of writings linked to the suspect accused of carrying out a shooting at a private Christian school in Tennessee, leaving six people injured. However, authorities are still in the dark about who leaked the photographs containing three pages of the shooter’s journals. Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake confirmed on Friday that investigators have exhausted all possible leads in their quest to identify the person responsible for the leak.

The leaked pages contained chilling details from the shooter’s journals, which were recovered by detectives at the scene of the tragic incident that took place on March 27. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, allegedly shot six individuals, including three children, after gaining entry to the Covenant School by shooting through locked glass doors. Nashville police swiftly responded to the horrifying situation and gunned down the suspect within minutes.

The victims of this senseless act of violence were identified as 9-year-old students Hallie Scrugg, Evelyn Dieckhaus, and William Kinney, as well as three staff members: Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Mike Hill. In previous statements, law enforcement officials revealed that multiple journals resembling a “manifesto” were found in Hale’s car and residence. These writings reportedly detailed the date and execution plan of the shooting. Additional material written by Hale was also discovered in a Honda Fit parked on the school’s premises.

Despite this, the authorities had consistently denied releasing the writings to the public, resulting in a legal battle that is currently awaiting a verdict from the Tennessee Court of Appeals. However, last month, conservative media personality Steven Crowder somehow obtained three photographs of the journals and shared them online. Crowder later stated that he had no regrets about posting the images, which contained hate-filled language directed towards the school and a timeline of events.

Upon discovering the leak on November 6, an internal investigation was launched, leading to several police officers being placed on administrative assignment. During the investigation, officers were interviewed, and it was determined that the cell phone photos were taken shortly after the journals were found in Hale’s car. A former detective who had possession of the images refused to be interviewed and is no longer part of the law enforcement community. Additionally, the police lack the authority to compel statements or cooperation from former employees. As a result, the case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

In a press release, Chief Drake clarified, “The investigation has not identified current MNPD employees, or employees of any partner agency, as engaging in the unauthorized release of the images.” He further added, “Persons placed on administrative assignment for certain periods during the pendency of the investigation have returned to their regular duties.”

As the investigation into the leak continues, the search for justice and closure for the victims and their families remains ongoing. The leak of the shooter’s writings has only added another layer of complexity to an already tragic incident, leaving authorities grappling with the challenge of determining who is responsible for this breach of confidentiality..
