Manipur Police Arrest Eight Kidnappers and Rescue Abducted Youth

In a swift operation, Manipur police apprehended eight kidnappers and successfully rescued a 22-year-old youth, Laishram Chinglen Singh, from their clutches. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Singh was abducted from the DM College of Science New Boy’s Hostel in Imphal.

Imphal West Superintendent of Police, Ksh Shivakanta Singh, addressed reporters and provided details about the daring rescue mission. He revealed that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh from Singh’s parents in exchange for his safe release.

Upon receiving a complaint from the distressed parents, the Imphal West District Police swiftly initiated a search operation at various locations. The relentless efforts of the police force paid off when, in the early hours of Saturday, a team conducted a raid at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai in Imphal West district. They successfully rescued Laishram from the residence of a 63-year-old individual identified as Asem Chaoba.

The police operation not only secured the release of the kidnapped youth but also led to the arrest of eight individuals believed to be involved in the heinous crime. During the raid, law enforcement authorities seized a Ghatak rifle, an AK-47 rifle, one .32 pistol, ammunition, and a staggering total of 13 mobile handsets from the arrested kidnappers.
