New Delhi: A shocking discovery unfolded in south Delhi’s Khirki Extension area as the lifeless body of a 30-year-old woman was found in an apartment, according to local authorities.

The incident came to light when the Malvia Nagar police station received a PCR call on Friday evening at around 7.30 pm, reporting a foul smell emanating from the woman’s residence, said a senior police officer.

Upon receiving the distress call, police promptly dispatched a team to the location. The apartment, which was locked from the inside, was opened in the presence of the owner and concerned neighbors, the officer added.

The deceased has been identified as Saniya Rai. Authorities revealed that the body showed no visible signs of external injury, likely due to advanced decomposition.

Following the discovery, a thorough examination of the crime scene was conducted by the specialized crime team. The body was subsequently sent for postmortem analysis to ascertain the cause of death, as confirmed by an official.

Authorities have initiated further proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) and an ongoing investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
