Accident – Death – Obituary News : AN OREGON family has been left devastated after a tragic incident resulted in the death of a six-year-old boy who was fatally mauled by two dogs while getting ready for school earlier this week. The incident occurred in Portland on Tuesday morning at approximately 7:38 am when the Portland Police responded to reports of a dog attack.

Upon arriving at the home located in the Parkrose Heights Neighborhood, officers were met by a woman covered in blood, who had valiantly attempted to stop the dog attack with her own hands, according to The New York Post. The police later confirmed that the woman was the owner of the dogs involved in the incident and was a friend of the boy’s grandmother, who had dropped him off at the home to take him to school.

Tragically, despite the woman’s efforts, the six-year-old boy, identified as Loyalty Charles Scott by his family, was pronounced dead at the scene. The devastating loss has left the family and the community in shock, especially as it occurred just weeks before Christmas.

“We understand that the homeowner/dog owner did everything in her power to stop this attack, at some point even grabbing a gun – it never got that far,” stated PPB Public Information Officer Mike Benner. “She did everything she could to save this boy’s life.”

The incident reportedly occurred when the boy followed the woman into her garage, where two of her Great Dane-Mastiff mixes viciously attacked him. Police have revealed that the boy had previously been instructed to stay away from the dogs and the garage, but tragically, he did not heed the warning.

Following the incident, the two dogs directly involved in the attack were euthanized on Wednesday. A third dog, which was present in the home during the incident, is still under the custody of Multnomah County Animal Services, according to the authorities.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to support Loyalty’s mother, and as of Saturday, it had already raised nearly $5,000 of its $10,000 goal. Mariah Scott, a relative of the six-year-old, shared heartfelt words about the young boy, stating, “Loyalty touched so many hearts. He always had a smile on his face, and there was no way anyone could be in a bad mood around him. He loved everyone and everything. He was so pure and unaffected by the negatives in the world. He changed my outlook on life and made this world so beautiful!”

The investigation is still ongoing, and police have stated that it is too early to determine whether the owner of the dogs will face charges. The PPB’s Child Abuse Team and Homicide Unit are currently investigating the incident, aiming to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this devastating tragedy..
