According to officiating SP Traffic at Aligarh, Mukesh Chand Uttam, a detailed report has been submitted to the district administration, suggesting a magistrate probe into the incident that occurred on Friday at Kotwali police station. The incident involved a 52-year-old woman who was accidentally shot when the accused sub-inspector, Manoj Sharma from the Bhujpura police outpost of Aligarh, mishandled his pistol.

“The 52-year-old injured woman is reported to be in a stable condition. Doctors at JN Medical College in Aligarh have informed us that she is currently receiving treatment, and all her vital signs are normal,” stated SP Traffic Mukesh Chand Uttam on Saturday.

Efforts are being made to locate the absconding sub-inspector, Manoj Sharma. Sharma’s parents are currently in Aligarh and are cooperating with the authorities. SP Traffic expressed confidence that the sub-inspector will soon be apprehended and brought to face legal action.

In a typical scenario, officials from the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and local police would visit the applicant’s residence for passport verification. However, in this particular case, the woman was allegedly summoned to the police station, which unfortunately led to the shocking incident.

“We are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case, and a departmental probe is underway to question the police personnel involved. Those found guilty will face appropriate action. On Friday, SSP Kalanidhi Naithani suspended the accused SI Manoj Kumar Sharma,” Uttam explained.

The SP Traffic further added that the family members of the injured woman have been kept informed of the police actions taken so far, and they are satisfied with the progress. The police authorities have stated that although the incident appears to be an “accidental fire” at first glance, a thorough investigation will be conducted, and the negligent cop will face appropriate consequences.

The injured woman, identified as Ishrat Nigar (52), was admitted to JN Medical College in Aligarh in a serious condition. She was undergoing surgery at the time of the latest reports.

SI Manoj Kumar, who was stationed at Bhujpura police station, has been suspended due to negligence. Additionally, a case has been registered against him under section 307 (attempt to murder) at Kotwali police station in Aligarh. Sources from the police department revealed that Sharma, aged 50, had been assigned to Aligarh three months ago after being transferred from Agra.

“Senior police officials are investigating the incident to determine how the gun discharged. Although other officers were present at the CCTNS office of the police station, they managed to escape unharmed,” an official stated.

“My mother was planning to go for ‘Haj Umra’ pilgrimage, for which she had gone to the police station for passport verification,” expressed the inconsolable daughter of the injured woman upon her arrival at the hospital on Friday.

In conclusion, the Aligarh police have taken swift action in response to the ‘accidental firing’ incident, recommending a magistrate probe and suspending the responsible sub-inspector. Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the absconding officer, while the injured woman continues to receive medical treatment. The police department is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the cause of the incident and ensure that those found guilty face appropriate consequences..
