Two Fatalities Reported Following South Killeen Residential Shooting

Tragedy struck the quiet neighbourhood of south Killeen early Friday afternoon as two individuals lost their lives in a residential shooting incident, as reported by the Killeen Police Department.

Authorities promptly responded to a distressing call reporting shots fired, originating from the 2400 block of Basalt Drive, shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered two lifeless bodies, both succumbing to gunshot wounds. Additionally, they managed to apprehend an individual believed to be the perpetrator of this heinous act. Currently, the suspect’s identity remains undisclosed, pending further investigation.

An officer at the scene revealed that preliminary evidence suggests a possible domestic dispute as the motive behind the shooting.

“Upon reaching the scene, officers observed a male leaving the premises and heard distressing screams emanating from inside,” shared Commander Anthony Lourence of the Criminal Investigations Division with the Herald. “They promptly detained the male suspect, proceeded inside, and tragically found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately initiated CPR, and emergency medical services arrived promptly to transport the victims to nearby medical facilities.”

Despite the best efforts of the first responders, both victims ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

Commander Lourence further assured the public that there is no imminent danger to the wider community, emphasizing that this tragic incident appears to be isolated within the confines of the residence. It is believed that the individuals involved in this unfortunate event were acquainted with one another, ruling out the possibility of a random act of violence.
