According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the fatal crash occurred around 4:15 p.m on U.S. Highway 59, just north of Livingston, a town located in Polk County, approximately 70 miles northeast of Houston. The young victim was struck by the truck tractor semi-trailer as he stood in a driveway after getting off the school bus.

Preliminary investigations by DPS revealed that a Livingston Independent School District bus was stopped northbound in the outside lane, with its flashing red lights and stop sign extended to offload a child. Behind the bus, a 28-year-old woman was driving a Toyota car. The truck driver, identified as 41-year-old Gregory Jackson of Texarkana, collided with the rear of the car before veering to the right and striking the child.

Tragically, the 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while neither the Toyota driver nor the truck driver sustained any injuries.

Gregory Jackson has been arrested on a felony criminal negligent homicide charge and has been taken into custody at the Polk County Jail. Jail records from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office indicate that he remains detained on a $250,000 bond. It is currently unclear whether Jackson has obtained legal representation.
