Santa Rosa Resident Arrested for Possession of Unregistered Firearm

(KRON) – In a recent development, the Santa Rosa Police Department apprehended a 21-year-old resident of Santa Rosa for the possession of an unregistered firearm following a routine traffic stop on December 6th.

Officers from the SRPD Special Enforcement Team initiated the traffic stop at 8:15 p.m. after noticing a Mercedes sedan with heavily tinted front windows. The driver promptly complied and pulled over near the Santa Rosa Valley Oak Park apartments.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Pablo Zaldivar-Aguilar, and the passenger, identified as 21-year-old Jorge Lozano-Casillas, were both residents of Santa Rosa.

Upon conducting a pat search for weapons, both Zaldivar-Aguilar and Lozano-Casillas consented to the procedure. The search, however, did not yield any weapons. Nevertheless, the officers had probable cause to search the vehicle, leading them to discover a loaded Glock 43 9mm handgun beneath the front passenger seat.

Further investigation revealed that the firearm had not been registered with the Department of Justice, as mandated by law.

Consequently, Lozano-Casillas was apprehended for the possession of a loaded firearm that was not registered under his name, as well as for carrying a concealed firearm while in a vehicle.

Meanwhile, Zaldivar-Aguilar was released on the scene by the authorities.
