In a shocking turn of events, the Denver Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred near Gaylord Street last Thursday. The Denver Department of Public Safety released a statement confirming the arrest and providing details of the incident.

According to the release, at approximately 6:22 p.m. on November 30, police received multiple reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Gaylord Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as 27-year-old Michael Milligan, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to the chest.

According to the affidavit, a witness reported that he and a friend were involved in a marijuana transaction when the shooting occurred. The witness, who remains unnamed, stated that Milligan was driving a dark gray Subaru Outback at the time of the incident. Bystanders who witnessed the shooting attempted to perform CPR on Milligan, but their efforts were in vain.

Further investigation revealed that the witness had arranged a marijuana deal with a crack cocaine dealer. The witness informed the dealer that he had a friend, Milligan, who could purchase up to four pounds of marijuana with a medical marijuana card. Consequently, the deal was set up, and the meeting was scheduled to take place on the evening of November 30.

The witness and Milligan arrived at the meeting location, which was near 9th Avenue and Vine Street, in Milligan’s girlfriend’s silver Subaru. The dealer and an accomplice confronted them after the marijuana was presented. Sensing danger, the witness slammed the car door shut, causing Milligan to start driving away.

It was at this point that gunshots were heard, and Milligan announced that he had been shot. In a desperate attempt to escape, Milligan crashed the vehicle about half a block away on Gaylord Street. The witness immediately called 911, alerting the authorities to the dire situation.

Video surveillance footage obtained from the 900 block of Vine Street captured the shooting incident. The footage revealed two gunshots and a single muzzle flash at approximately 6:22 p.m. After the shooting, the suspect’s vehicle can be seen fleeing the scene.

Detectives diligently worked on the case, eventually finding a single 9mm fired cartridge case at the crime scene. This crucial piece of evidence led investigators to obtain a search warrant and track the suspect’s device. The device was traced as it traveled along Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue before coming to a stop in the 3700 block of 13th Avenue.

Further examination of the suspect’s phone records revealed that he had made a call to an unknown female immediately after the shooting. The unknown female, who lived in the same location where the suspect’s device had stopped, had a history of associating with the suspect. Previous police records indicated that the suspect had been involved in selling narcotics near Colfax Avenue and Ogden Street.

To solidify their case, investigators presented a photo lineup to the witness, who positively identified Jackson as the suspect responsible for the shooting and marijuana deal. Based on this identification, an arrest warrant was issued, leading to Jackson’s arrest on December 7.
