Police Release Details of Fatal Shooting in Reno

Authorities have provided more information about the tragic incident that occurred earlier this week, where a man was fatally shot by a Reno patrol officer in response to a domestic disturbance.

On Friday, the police released an official statement shedding light on the events that unfolded on Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Colorado River Boulevard. The location is just a few blocks northeast of the intersection of South Virginia Street and Plumb Lane.

According to the police, multiple residents made distressing 911 calls at 10:42 a.m., reporting an “unknown disturbance” at the residence. Witnesses stated that they heard a woman screaming for help, expressing concern that a male individual was attempting to harm her.

Within five minutes, a Reno officer arrived at the scene, encountering the distressed female. The woman informed the officer that the male suspect was still inside the residence, posing a threat to another female inside.

In an attempt to protect the potential victim, the officer swiftly entered the premises. It was during this entry that the officer encountered 34-year-old Caleb Briggs of Reno.
