“Assault on Sherwood Island Connector” : 35-Year-Old Antonio Trusty Arrested for Assault, Unlawful Restraint, and Possession of Firearms and Drugs

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Westport, UK – A 35-year-old man, identified as Antonio Trusty from Waterbury, has been apprehended by the Westport Police Department after allegedly assaulting an individual in a car on the Sherwood Island Connector in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Trusty was found attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle driven by a food-delivery driver, according to authorities.

Trusty now faces multiple charges, including third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, interfering with an emergency call, sale of a narcotic substance, possession of more than 1.5 ounces of cannabis, and sixth-degree larceny.

The incident unfolded when the police received a distress call around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, reporting a domestic violence incident involving a boyfriend on the Sherwood Island Connector. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the caller’s car and learned that Trusty had assaulted the victim and prevented them from leaving the vehicle or making an emergency phone call.

After fleeing on foot, Trusty was later found in possession of two bags, which were discovered to contain a handgun, narcotics, and several unopened gift cards. It was during this time that Trusty encountered a Door Dash driver, who agreed to transport him away from the area. However, the police spotted the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the Interstate 95 northbound entrance ramp and promptly stopped it.

Upon inspection, the authorities determined that the bags containing the firearm and drugs belonged to Trusty. Consequently, he was taken into custody and subsequently charged. Trusty was held on a $100,000 bond and transported for arraignment at the state Superior Court in Stamford later that same day.

The Westport Police Department commended the quick response and cooperation of all parties involved in apprehending Trusty.
