Two Women Charged in Connection with the Murder of Odhran Kelly

Police authorities in Northern Ireland have filed charges against two women in relation to the tragic death of 23-year-old nursing assistant, Odhran Kelly.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that the two women, aged 43 and 36, have been charged with assisting an offender. They are scheduled to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, two 31-year-old men who were also apprehended as part of the ongoing police investigation remain in custody.

Following a formal identification process, detectives have officially named the deceased as Odhran Kelly, whose lifeless body was discovered next to a burning car in Maple Court during the early hours of Sunday.

Authorities have asserted that there is no indication of an organized crime connection to the murder.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Tony Kelly stated, “A post-mortem examination has been conducted and we can now confirm the identity of the deceased as Odhran Kelly.

“Our thoughts are primarily with Mr. Kelly’s family, who are currently grappling with the devastating loss.”

He further added, “While our investigation is still in its preliminary stages, we do not believe there is any involvement of organized crime.

“If you were in the Edward Street or Francis Street areas of Lurgan between 2am and 5am on Sunday and noticed any suspicious activity, please contact us on 101.”

DUP MP Carla Lockhart echoed the police’s appeal for anyone with information regarding the murder to come forward.

“The people of Lurgan are still reeling from this shocking murder, and our hearts go out to the Kelly family as they struggle to comprehend this terrible tragedy,” she expressed.

“The police have been working tirelessly on this case, and it is crucial that anyone with relevant information assists in bringing those responsible to justice.

“There has been a request for the submission of any footage circulating on social media, and it is imperative that this material is made available for examination.

“Securing justice for the life of this innocent young man is of utmost importance.”

On Wednesday, hundreds of individuals gathered at a poignant vigil held in remembrance of Odhran Kelly on Edward Street.

Attendees brought balloons, candles, and flowers to pay their respects, while some family members donned T-shirts emblazoned with the words ‘Justice for Odhran’.
