Trial of Afrah Abdi for Second-Degree Murder in Death of Logan Nayneecassum: Identity Crisis and Key Witnesses Challenge Prosecution’s Case

Another key witness, Jessica Litman, the owner of the bar, also testified during the trial. Tiara Fehr, a patron at the bar, took the stand and shared her account of that fateful night. The prosecution has asserted that the man identified as “the shooter” is none other than Afrah Abdi, who also went by the nickname “Tax.” However, the defense, led by lawyer Leo Adler, has argued that the man on trial is not the same individual depicted in the video.

From the time-stamped video and witness testimonies, it has been established that Aria Food and Spirits closed its doors at 2 a.m. CST. However, customers continued to arrive until almost 3 a.m. CST. It was during this period that a group of at least five First Nations men arrived and became involved in a confrontation with a group of Black men. Tragically, Logan Nayneecassum was shot once in the leg during this altercation and passed away 45 minutes later at Royal University Hospital.

The trial is expected to span two weeks as the prosecution and defense present their cases and the jury carefully deliberates on the evidence and testimonies provided.
