Teenage Boy Arrested for October Shooting Resulting in Fatality

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) recently announced that a male teenager has been taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in October.

Responding swiftly to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of U Street, NW, at approximately 3:38 a.m. on October 21, the MPD discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The deceased individual has been identified as 24-year-old Diamonte Lewis, hailing from Southeast, D.C.

After an extensive search, Fairfax County police apprehended 16-year-old Ashton Inabinet from Alexandria, Virginia on December 5. Inabinet voluntarily waived his right to an extradition hearing, following which he was promptly transported to MPD’s Homicide Branch.
