In a disturbing incident that has ignited outrage across social media platforms, a white female police officer in Reform, Alabama, was captured on video using a stun gun on a compliant Black man who was already handcuffed. The 45-second clip, which quickly went viral, shows the officer shocking the man and telling him to be quiet after he cried out in pain.

The video begins with the officer placing the handcuffed man against a car, clearly showing that he is not resisting arrest. Startlingly, the man informs the officer that he is in possession of a gun. The officer retrieves the weapon and nonchalantly places it on the hood of the car, saying, “Oh, yeah.”

Confused, the man questions the officer’s reaction, asking, “What you saying, ‘Oh, yeah’ for?” In response, the officer appears to press the stun gun against the man’s back, causing him to cry out in agony. Shockingly, she then tells him to shut up, using profanity to emphasize her demand.

Family and friends of the victim, identified as 24-year-old Micah Washington, stated that he was simply changing a tire on the side of the road when the officer approached him and others. Outraged by the incident, protesters gathered outside the Reform town hall to condemn the excessive use of force.

Reform Mayor Melody Davis and Police Chief Richard Black swiftly responded to the incident, announcing that the officer has been placed on administrative leave. They have also requested a thorough investigation by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

In an official statement, Mayor Davis and Chief Black expressed their concern over the incident and their commitment to uncovering the truth: “The Reform Police Department is aware of a video circulating involving a citizen’s arrest on December 2, 2023. The department is in the process of turning over all materials related to this arrest to the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and has requested a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest.”

The officer involved in the incident has not been named in the statement, and inquiries have been redirected to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, whose response is currently pending. Court records linked to Washington’s arrest identified the complainant as Dana Elmore, with a contact number listed for Reform City Hall. However, attempts to reach Elmore for comment have been unsuccessful.

Reform, a small town approximately 30 miles northwest of Tuscaloosa, has been shaken by this incident, prompting calls for justice and accountability. The shocking video, shared widely on social media, has drawn attention to the need for police reform and the elimination of excessive force.

Micah Washington’s girlfriend, Jalexis Rice, tearfully recounted her reaction upon watching the video: “When I saw it, I couldn’t do anything but cry. It was heartbreaking.” Rice also clarified that Washington and two others were changing a tire on a car at the time of the incident.

In a twist to the story, court records revealed that the investigator initially charged Washington and another man with trafficking fentanyl. However, state prosecutors dropped the charge on Monday after further testing disproved the substance’s identification as fentanyl. Washington and his companion were also charged with resisting arrest, interference with a government operation, and marijuana possession.

As the investigation unfolds, the incident has sparked a renewed conversation about police brutality and the urgent need for reforms within law enforcement agencies. The shocking video serves as a stark reminder that accountability and transparency are essential for restoring public trust in the criminal justice system..
