A devastating accident on Wednesday evening in Trumbull resulted in the loss of a man’s life and left two other individuals injured, including a young child.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Daniel Demichael from Norwalk. According to the Connecticut State Police, Demichael was ejected from his vehicle during the crash that occurred on Route 8 South just before 8:30 p.m. Another car, driven by a 26-year-old man from Bridgeport, was also involved in the incident, causing injuries to both the child and the driver.

The collision unfolded when Demichael was driving his 2004 Jeep Wrangler southbound in the right lane. At the same time, a 2021 Toyota Supra driven by a Bridgeport resident attempted to merge onto Route 8 using the Exit 52 entrance ramp from Route 15 South. The Toyota struck Demichael’s vehicle, causing him to lose control and veer across the left lane, ultimately crashing into the center median and colliding with a metal beam guardrail, as detailed by the state police.

Tragically, the impact was so severe that Demichael was ejected from his Wrangler, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The young passenger, a 5-year-old girl traveling with Demichael, was immediately rushed to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, her injuries were believed to be minor, providing a glimmer of hope in this otherwise heartbreaking incident.

The driver of the Toyota, who was responsible for the collision, also suffered injuries deemed minor by the authorities. He was promptly transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport to receive medical attention.
