The responding deputies arrived at the scene to discover the lifeless body of Kali. They later learned that the suspect, Jeremy Best, had fled the house with their 10-month-old son, Zeke Best.

In a bizarre turn of events, just hours before the murders took place, Jeremy was taken into custody after being found walking around the Swan Valley General Store completely naked. Concerns about his mental health led to his evaluation and subsequent admission to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. However, he was discharged from the hospital, which has since sparked controversy.

Fortunately, on the 2nd of December, hunters found Jeremy in a sleeping bag near Dan Creek Road in Bonneville County.
