Three Rohingya Youths, Md Zobair, Anwar Sadique, and Kashim, Shot to Death in Cox’s Bazar

Accident – death – Obituary News : Three additional Rohingya youths were fatally shot by unidentified attackers in two separate incidents in Ukhiya upazila, located in the Cox’s Bazar district of southeastern Bangladesh, on Tuesday night. The victims have been identified as 18-year-old Md Zobair, 17-year-old Anwar Sadique, and 34-year-old Kashim, all residents of the Ukhiya Rohingya Camp numbers 15 and 17.

According to Shamim Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station, the miscreants abducted four Rohingya men from camp 15 and took them to an abandoned location, where they opened fire on them around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. Two individuals were killed on the spot, while the other two sustained injuries. Shortly after, the assailants summoned Kashim from the camp and shot him, resulting in his death.

Upon receiving the information, the police recovered the bodies and transferred them to the local hospital morgue for autopsy. Earlier in the afternoon, another Rohingya youth, identified as 30-year-old Imam Hossain and a resident of camp 4, was also shot to death near the camp.

The Ukhiya Police Station is currently making efforts to apprehend the attackers responsible for these heinous acts, as confirmed by the officer in charge.

The Rohingya community has been subjected to numerous instances of violence and persecution, prompting many to flee their homes in Myanmar and seek refuge in neighboring countries, including Bangladesh. The Cox’s Bazar district is home to one of the largest refugee camps in the world, housing hundreds of thousands of Rohingya people.

The recent incidents of targeted attacks on Rohingya youths raise concerns about their safety and well-being in the camps. The authorities must take immediate action to ensure the security of the Rohingya community and bring the perpetrators of these crimes to justice.
